(Part-time 30 hours, split shift)
SALARY RANGE: $22.14/hour to $26.92/hour in five annual steps
FILING DATE: Until Filled
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Under the direction of the Transportation Supervisor, operate a school bus to transport students safely and efficiently to an assigned location using designated routes and according to specified time schedules.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination equivalent to: sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above, such as a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three months experience in operating a school bus. School bus certificate must be transit certified.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: A valid California Motor Vehicle License of the Class A or B (including air brakes, school bus and passenger endorsement), and a valid California Special Driver’s Certificate for School Bus (DL45); as well as a safe driving record. Possession of a current Red Cross First-Aid Certificate, or evidence of having passed the California Highway Patrol First-Aid examination. Possession of a valid
Medical Certificate (MCSA 5876). Insurability by the District’s liability insurance carrier. Employees in this classification are subject to random drug testing as prescribed by Federal law. Copies of all licenses and requirements must be included with the completed application for employment.
THE EXAMINATION: Applicants will: 1) perform a complete pre-trip and driving test and must demonstrate knowledge in local, state and federal regulations; 2) be able to maintain order and discipline; 3) be able to understand and follow both oral and written instructions and 4) have the ability to communicate effectively.
